On 21st June 2006, the letter of intent to build a new biomass power plant was signed in Kołobrzeg. This investment will help to improve the environment of the Kołobrzeg spa and ecological areas. The project is a public-private partnership, where one of the partners is the city of Kołobrzeg and the other is Rindipol SA.
